Use the PWA for local Markdown workspaces with optional encryption, the browser extension for encrypted page notes, or AIC Notes in VS Code. Protected file editors share the same .aicnotes data; synchronize exported files through a service you manage.

Available releases: Standard Notes 50.0.1 / VS Code 59.0.2 / browser 0.11.2

Shared core 7.5.2 centers Mermaid diagrams at their natural size within a full-width canvas. Wider diagrams shrink to fit, long labels wrap, and height follows all content without internal scrollbars. Copy and Edit remain; zoom controls are removed. Mermaid loads only when needed. VS Code also refreshes diagram colors when its theme changes, without reopening the note.

Download 59.0.2 VSIX and SHA-256, Standard Notes 50.0.1. The PWA is deployed. GitHub packages are published and their SHA-256 checksums are verified. Chromium 0.11.2 ZIP and SHA-256 are available for manual installation in Chrome or Edge. The confirmed Marketplace version is 58.1.1. Chrome publishes 0.9.3 while 0.11.1 remains pending review; uploading 0.11.2 is currently unavailable.

AIC Notes 58.1.1 — VS Code desktop and web

AIC Notes now includes a browser host for vscode.dev and github.dev alongside its desktop host. Both use the same editor, files, linked notes and encrypted .aicnotes format. Read-only repositories support viewing; saving requires a writable filesystem provider. Confirmed saves also clear stale failure notices after rapid Undo/Redo.

Download the 58.1.1 VSIX and SHA-256. Run Extensions: Install from VSIX… in VS Code or vscode.dev, select the file, and reload. Marketplace updates become available after store validation.

Web update — October 1, 2026

Opening a large project no longer fails after 10,000 inspected entries: AIC scans the selected tree in bounded batches, saves found notes before continuing from the current position, and releases temporary buffers between batches. Canceling or a later scan error keeps the notes already saved on this device. The interface now uses compact editor-style headers, an explorer sidebar, neutral light/dark surfaces and touch-sized controls on phones.

The Update app button now follows activation through to completion, including updates already waiting when the app opens. It shows progress, offers a retry if activation stalls, and preserves unsaved drafts before reloading. The separate Install AIC Notes button stops offering a browser prompt after it is consumed.

Folder imports skip nested node_modules and .git directories, and honor .gitignore and .ignore in the selected folder and its descendants. Excluded paths are pruned before reading note content. The browser's fallback picker may still enumerate the folder before AIC receives the selection.

Choose Open folder on the start screen to import Markdown notes. Install the available app update first if that button or the new filtering is missing.

PWA and portable files — 48.4.5 / browser 0.11.0

This release pairs the installable Notes PWA at aic.dzyha.com with AIC for Standard Notes 48.4.5, AIC Notes 56.4.5, experimental browser 0.11.0 and shared core 7.5.0.

Install the PWA and use it offline

  1. Open AIC Notes online over HTTPS. Allow the initial interface to finish loading so its offline cache can install.

  2. In Chrome or Edge, use Install app in the browser menu or address bar. On iPhone or iPad, use Safari's Share → Add to Home Screen. Installation labels can vary by browser.

  3. From the start screen, choose New workspace, then New note, or choose Open notes for files, a folder or an encrypted file. Changes autosave locally; Save or Ctrl/Cmd+S retries a pending or failed save. Local saves do not update the original folder or Drive.

  4. Use Export Markdown from the note menu or Export all notes from workspace options for readable files. Use Save encrypted copy for a protected .aicnotes file in your own sync folder.

  5. Reopen the installed app without a connection to edit local notes. Your separate file-sync service needs a connection when transferring exported files.

When Update app appears, AIC saves the current draft before applying the update. Updating… disappears after the new version opens. If saving fails, keep the app open and retry the save. Keep exported backups: browser data can be cleared or evicted. Writable file and folder pickers are available in supported desktop browsers; other browsers use file selection and downloads. See data handling and limits.

Use built-in AI offline

Open a text note and choose Grammar or Improve. Chrome may first need to download its on-device model; that browser-managed step needs a connection and compatible hardware. When the model is ready, AI can work offline. Review the suggestion and choose Apply to change the note; use Undo to revert it. AIC does not send the note to a remote AI service. AI availability depends on the browser API, device and supported language; ordinary editing remains available offline in other browsers. See Chrome's current Prompt API requirements.

Coordinated source release — 48.4.5 / 56.4.5 — October 1, 2026

This release pairs AIC Notes for VS Code 56.4.5, AIC for Standard Notes 48.4.5 and experimental Chrome/Edge 0.11.0 on core 7.5.0.

VS Code and code-server

Use AIC Notes 56.4.5 on GitHub for its VSIX and neighboring .sha256 file. The VS Code Marketplace is a separate channel; check its displayed version.

For a downloaded VSIX, run Extensions: Install from VSIX… in the Command Palette, choose the file and reload the window. In code-server, use code-server --install-extension ./aic-notes-VERSION.vsix --force with the downloaded filename. code-server's Open VSX distribution is separate.

Marketplace installations follow VS Code's automatic-update settings. A VSIX installation can enable Auto Update for AIC Notes to receive Marketplace updates.

Standard Notes

Open Preferences → Plugins → Install Custom Plugin and paste:

https://ldzyha.github.io/standard-notes-aic/ext.json

Select AIC in the note editor menu. Existing installations check the same manifest for updates; restart Standard Notes if a previous version remains visible. Downloadable ZIPs and checksums are on the AIC 48.4.5 release page.

Chrome and Microsoft Edge — experimental

  1. Download the aic-browser-chromium-0.11.0.zip and neighboring .sha256 file from the AIC 48.4.5 release page.

  2. Extract the ZIP into a permanent folder with manifest.json at its root.

  3. Open chrome://extensions or edge://extensions, enable Developer mode, select Load unpacked, and choose the folder. Pin AIC and select its icon.

Wait for Note saved and export an encrypted backup before updating. Replace the files in the same folder and select Reload on the existing extension card. Removing the extension can delete its local notes. Store installations receive browser-managed updates after approval; unpacked installations require Reload. Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons are separate store channels. The experimental page-notes package still requires Chrome/Edge runtime verification.

Check a downloaded package

Each release archive or VSIX has a neighboring .sha256 file. In the download directory, run sha256sum -c FILE.sha256 on Linux; on macOS, compare shasum -a 256 FILE with the file's value. In Windows PowerShell, use (Get-FileHash .\FILE -Algorithm SHA256).Hash.

50.0.1 — 2026-10-01

Release sequence 50 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Coordinates Standard Notes AIC 50.0.1, AIC Notes 59.0.2, experimental browser 0.11.2 and shared core 7.5.2. Prepared release; publication is verified separately.

B01 — Readable Mermaid previews

The preview canvas fills the available width while the diagram keeps its natural size, centered without enlargement. Wider diagrams shrink proportionally; height follows the complete content without internal scrollbars. Long flowchart labels wrap in bounded nodes. Copy and Edit remain available; redundant zoom controls are removed. Layout observation avoids repeated work, and Mermaid loads only when a diagram needs rendering. Authored source, Save and Undo remain unchanged.

49.1.2 — 2026-10-01

Release sequence 49 · 1 feature outcome · 2 fixed-bug outcomes. Coordinates AIC Notes for VS Code 57.1.2, experimental browser 0.11.1 and shared core 7.5.1.

F01 — A shorter mobile writing workflow

The PWA starts a local note directly from New note. Open files and Open folder are direct actions. A mobile Notes drawer reuses the existing list and editor, keeping text, selection and Undo while browsing. The title opens Rename; compact header actions expose browsing, a new note and note options. VS Code bundles the coordinated shared UI and portable runtime changes.

B01 — Compact controls and bounded menus

Shared outline icons and touch targets keep mobile controls readable. Primary writing actions stay visible; secondary workspace actions use a contextual menu. The editor shows a concise save state with the full destination in accessible text and retains a recoverable draft when saving fails.

B02 — Terms routes reach the canonical public page

Terms links use aic.dzyha.com/terms. Redirects preserve the public terms entry point across release hosting, without changing the document storage contract.

These are prepared release inputs. GitHub assets, checksums, hosted manifests and deployment need independent verification. Store submissions and approval are separate; this changelog does not claim a new Marketplace or browser-store approval.

48.4.5 — 2026-10-01

Release sequence 48 · 4 feature outcomes · 5 fixed-bug outcomes. Coordinates AIC Notes for VS Code 56.4.5, experimental browser 0.11.0 and shared core 7.5.0.

F01 — Portable local workspaces with optional encryption
F02 — Focused navigation for files, scopes and phones
F03 — Optional on-device Grammar and Improve

Chrome-supported devices can review local suggestions before Apply. Protected Markdown and regular editor Undo remain authoritative; ordinary offline editing works without the optional model.

F04 — Release verification is ready for opt-in publishing

The publishing workflow verifies the exact package and neighboring checksum. Repository credentials, GitHub publication, and store approval remain separate actions; this source release does not claim that any store has updated.

Fixes
  1. Markdown-folder limits count selected Markdown files rather than unrelated folders, while retaining hierarchy and existing payload limits.

  2. Folder reads are bounded and cancellable, preserve the active editor and its unsaved draft, and reject late results or partial imports.

  3. Redirect/cache recovery keeps bilingual public pages and offline app loading working without clearing note storage.

  4. A confirmed deletion of an existing file rejects a later save instead of recreating it; an intentional new-note placeholder can still create its file.

  5. Portable runtime files retain their byte hashes on Windows checkouts rather than being changed by Git line-ending conversion.

Portable file notes with optional encryption

47.1.0 — 2026-09-29

Release sequence 47 · 1 feature outcome · 0 fixed-bug outcomes. Coordinated with Standard Notes AIC 47.1.0, AIC Notes 55.1.0, experimental browser 0.10.0 and shared core 7.4.0.

F01 — Portable agent instructions

Bundle the same provider-neutral Markdown guide in every extension. No separate AIC executable or configuration folder is required. VS Code offers Copy Agent Instructions and explicit workspace setup; setup preserves owner files and no longer runs global rule synchronization. Browser and Standard Notes expose the guide locally. Documentation now uses direct statements for simple answers.

Accompanying browser 0.10.0

46.0.2 — 2026-09-24

Release sequence 46 · 0 feature outcomes · 2 fixed-bug outcomes. This release pairs with AIC Notes 54.0.2, experimental browser 0.9.2 and shared core 7.3.2.

Fixes
  1. Keep linked-code comments inside their details accordion, with compact headers and readable nested content.

  2. Keep the editor background unchanged for unsaved drafts. The Save button pulses while changes need saving; reduced motion uses a static indicator. Only the host's acknowledgement marks a draft saved, and failures retain its changes.

45.0.1 — 2026-09-24

Release sequence 45 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. This release pairs with AIC Notes 53.0.1, experimental browser 0.9.1 and shared core 7.3.1.

Documentation

41.1.1 — 2026-09-22

Release sequence 41 · 1 feature outcome · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Shared editor core moves to 7.0.0 because the visual diagram builder API is removed; AIC Notes 49.1.1 mirrors it, and experimental browser 0.6.0 is packaged with this release.

Feature
  1. Mermaid uses direct Markdown source editing with a live preview. Copy and one consistent Edit icon appear in the preview; zoom and scrolling affect only the preview. The palette, drag-and-drop, visual builder and rotation control are removed in Standard Notes, the browser and VS Code.

Fix
  1. Flowchart editing no longer depends on Mermaid's internal SVG node and edge identifiers. The last rendered diagram stays visible during an update, and rapid source changes use the newest render result.

40.0.1 — 2026-09-22

Release sequence 40 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Shared editor core moves to 6.2.2; AIC Notes 48.0.1 mirrors it, and experimental browser 0.5.2 is packaged with this release.

Fix
  1. Quotes and italic text use smaller type. Information (>), warning (!>) and error (!>>) quotes have distinct subtle backgrounds and side rules; neighboring Markdown blocks have larger measured gaps. >>> … <<< remains the details syntax. An unfinished fenced code block stays editable, and a completed block does not turn into a preview while its caret is on either fence delimiter.

39.0.1 — 2026-09-22

Release sequence 39 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Shared editor core moves to 6.2.1; AIC Notes 47.0.1 uses the same layout, and experimental browser 0.5.1 is packaged with this release.

Fix
  1. Markdown headings, quotes and lists have readable separation, including when authored without blank lines. Thematic breaks appear as short centered 50–100 px lines with vertical space. Revealing the raw --- under the caret keeps the same measured line height and leaves the Markdown unchanged.

38.1.1 — 2026-09-22

Release sequence 38 · 1 feature outcome · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Shared editor core moves to 6.2.0; AIC Notes 46.1.1 uses the same core. Browser 0.5.0 is included as an experimental Chrome/Edge package. Store submissions remain separate.

Feature
  1. New AIC blocks start with an unlabeled text row for an email or username. The confusing Account row preset is removed; Password and TOTP remain separate, optional fields. Existing authored notes are not rewritten.

Fix
  1. Narrow panels keep each field label and its value parts together as the whole row wraps into readable columns. The browser panel and toolbar can shrink without a minimum-width horizontal scroller. Password generation controls are hidden at viewport widths of 600 px or less, while saved secrets and their independent copy controls remain available.

37.2.0 — 2026-09-15

Release sequence 37 · 2 feature outcomes · 0 fixed-bug outcomes. Shared editor core moves to 6.1.0 with additive section copying. Release source target; GitHub publication, hosted-manifest deployment and packaged-runtime acceptance require separate verification. No PWA crash fix is claimed.

Features
  1. Browser 0.4.0 adds Global Shared in encrypted library v3: one explicit global record in the current browser profile's vault, above Domain Shared and available without an active web page. It uses independent draft/revision checks. Reading v1/v2 preserves all content; the next write emits v3, which older builds cannot read. Backup merge preserves an existing Global record and reports the skipped imported record, leaving the original encrypted backup intact.

  2. Each AIC section has a Copy section action through the shared serializer and clipboard owner. The result is a standalone fenced aic block with only that section, including masked and filter-hidden values. Logical labels, value text and typed parts are preserved; source whitespace/quoting may be normalized. The card title and sibling sections are excluded. Read-only views can copy; stale controls are guarded and source/save state do not change. Unnamed empty sections remain layoutless without a redundant copy action.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 45.1.0 receives section copying through shared core 6.1.0. Browser Global Shared does not add VS Code global storage, generated-key exchange, global.aic encryption, account connections or synchronization. The browser remains experimental; store publication and authenticated Standard Notes PWA behavior are separate acceptance boundaries.

36.0.1 — 2026-09-15

Release sequence 36 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. AIC Editor Core remains 6.0.0 and AIC Notes remains 44.4.7. Release source target; GitHub publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Fix
  1. Standard Notes now uses the same single always-compact editor toolbar as the browser: direct strike, link, bullet-list, ordered-list and task-list actions, plus source mode and the bundled local guide. The retired full-toolbar path and its Style/Insert selectors and Bold/Italic/Inline-code buttons are no longer mounted; those operations remain available through keyboard shortcuts, authored Markdown and slash commands. The toolbar wraps instead of introducing horizontal scrolling, and coarse-pointer actions retain 44 px targets.

Compatibility: Browser 0.3.1 includes the shared host-toolbar and CSS bundle change. The encrypted-library format is unchanged. This release does not change AIC Editor Core 6.0.0 or AIC Notes 44.4.7. Browser and Standard Notes packaged runtime acceptance, GitHub publication, hosted-manifest deployment and store publication remain separate verified actions.

35.3.9 — 2026-09-15

Release sequence 35 · 3 feature outcomes · 9 fixed-bug outcomes. The shared editor core moves to 6.0.0 with one breaking AIC field grammar. Release source target; GitHub publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Features
  1. One complete fenced aic document replaces active colon-field and YAML Properties interpretation. Existing unsupported text remains raw and accessible; no automatic migration or save-time metadata stamping runs.

  2. A shared local ? guide explains editing, copying, typed values and narrow host differences. Standard Notes mounts it only in the full toolbar; compact browser and VS Code surfaces reuse its content through host-owned popovers.

  3. Pipe separators type the following value independently: |, *|, #|, _|, 1|, and 0| represent text, secret, TOTP, card, unused one-time and used one-time values. Field, Row and Section insertion targets the current row, below it, and after the current section; presets are combinations of these values.

Fixes
  1. Card and other composite field labels/values align with adjacent simple rows in AIC field previews, using the same grid and label typography. Cards omit the extra label colon; masked parts and independent copy targets are unchanged.

  2. Contextual Field, Row, and Section actions follow the relevant row; an empty section keeps Row and Section inline. No separate New-block or Section footer consumes permanent space.

  3. Browser navigation uses bounded, readable display labels instead of exposing a page's full query or fragment in the visible history title. This is a display-only projection: exact stored source URLs, navigation targets and note identities are preserved.

  4. Plain Markdown previews derive link labels through the parser-backed link records instead of a parenthesis-fragile regular expression, so nested-path/query suffixes are not appended to the visible label. Authored Markdown and link targets remain unchanged.

  5. The compact browser editor exposes five direct formatting icons—strike, link, bullet list, ordered list and task—without a Format popover or Style/Insert selectors. Standard Notes retains its full formatting controls and adds the shared local ? guide.

  6. Shared field-add menus use compact, left-aligned options instead of oversized centered rows. Their actions, viewport bounds and keyboard behavior are unchanged.

  7. Browser import/export actions are direct and unambiguous: one content-import icon captures the current selection when present and otherwise the visible page, while separate up/down Markdown icons import and download files. Native paste replaces the redundant general clipboard-import button, duplicate Copy actions are removed, and More is limited to note/history deletion plus clearly grouped encrypted backups.

  8. The shared card filter sits inside the card header between its title and actions, retaining compact left alignment on narrow Standard Notes and VS Code surfaces.

  9. Capacity feedback stays with the relevant Add action and uses fixed bounded guidance without exposing field contents. Preflight uses normalized serialized length, so compact source cannot enable an insertion that serialization rejects; existing over-limit source remains previewable for manual repair.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 44.4.7 consumes core 6.0.0. Browser 0.3.0 receives the same grammar and presentation changes without changing the encrypted-library format. Unsupported authored text remains exact; masking and local-only host boundaries are unchanged. This release does not include the separately proposed global Shared/encryption work. GitHub, hosted-manifest and store publication remain separate verified actions.

34.3.1 — 2026-09-15

Release sequence 34 · 3 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome. The shared editor core moves to 5.3.0 with additive UI component exports. Release source target; GitHub publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Features
  1. The experimental Chrome/Edge sidebar 0.2.0 uses one compact contextual surface: formatting and an empty shared-Properties action stay in the Format toolbar, while existing domain data remains a distinct masked section. It does not add ornamental empty-state panels or duplicate the active page identity.

  2. A compact metadata-only chain links saved ancestor pages above the current note. It accepts only exact-origin, path-segment ancestors, never sibling notes or ancestor Markdown/secrets, and uses the existing guarded source navigation.

  3. Local page notes can be deleted from their menu or navigation tree after confirmation and revision checks. Deletion removes only the matching note and AIC history entry, preserves other notes and domain-shared Properties, and resets an active page to an unsaved placeholder. Tree/history projections do not render the saved note twice.

Fix
  1. Card fields use the same compact inline row as other composite fields: optional label, masked last four digits, expiry and masked CVV. Each part retains its own copy feedback; empty-part Paste, empty-field deletion and reordering remain.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 43.0.1 consumes core 5.3.0. Existing authored note syntax and browser encrypted-library formats are unchanged; masking is not encryption. Browser 0.2.0 remains experimental, and its packaged-runtime evidence and open gates are recorded separately in browser/VERIFICATION.md. The shared BEM/component layer is additive and partially adopted; retained legacy selectors are not claimed removed. No browser-store or VS Code Marketplace publication is implied.

33.2.4 — 2026-09-14

Release sequence 33 · 2 feature outcomes · 4 fixed-bug outcomes. The shared editor core moves to 5.2.0 with an additive read-only preview option. Release source target; GitHub publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Features
  1. The experimental browser component 0.1.4 for Chrome and Edge adds a compact, local encrypted page notebook using the canonical AIC editor. It supports explicit read-only page/selection imports, clipboard and Markdown import/export, encrypted backups, and immediate memory-only placeholders. It has no account, synchronization, autofill, or outgoing runtime connections. One Chromium ZIP accompanies this release; no browser-store submission is included.

  2. Separate exact-origin Properties records provide shared, masked domain information on child pages without duplicating fields into each note. Page/domain drafts use one acknowledged-save coordinator; compact domain/title navigation omits redundant single-child URL paths.

Fixes
  1. Generic pipe fields render label, value and description in one compact row with independent copy actions and local overflow. Shared Security parsing avoids repeated full-tree scans per block during edits.

  2. Properties/Security Add menus stay within the visible viewport, choose space above or below their button, scroll internally, and release their positioning listeners on disposal.

  3. CodeMirror's drawn caret and drop cursor use a visible 2 px, theme-aware stroke, including reduced-motion and forced-color handling.

  4. Standard Notes transport cleanup releases the adapter's completed, failed and timed-out save messages instead of retaining full note snapshots. Persistent context streams and other callers remain intact. Bounded real-transport and editing-memory checks cover this defect; unrelated Standard Notes API failures and all possible PWA crashes are not claimed fixed.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 42.0.3 consumes core 5.2.0. Existing authored note syntax is unchanged; Markdown masking is not encryption. Browser 0.1.4 is experimental, with Edge packaged smoke evidence and remaining Chrome installed-runtime, clipboard, site-permission and cross-panel Lock gates recorded in browser/VERIFICATION.md. Use synthetic browser data until those gates are resolved. The marketplace HOWTO describes future manual submissions, not completed publications.

32.1.1 — 2026-09-14

Release sequence 32 · 1 feature outcome · 1 fixed-bug outcome. Release source target; publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification. The shared editor core moves to 5.1.0.

Feature
  1. All three Security value slots, and custom Properties slots behind # aic-fields: v2, accept optional JSON-style double-quoted strings. Quoted pipes (including |), quotes, backslashes and control escapes retain their logical values. Serialization quotes values containing a pipe or quote, including pasted and imported values; ordinary values need no quotes. YAML outer quoting remains a separate storage layer: Password*: '"a | b" | "description"' preserves the inner slot quotes. Labels and titles have no quote syntax.

Fix
  1. Only the exact spaced | outside quotes separates slots. Bare or one-sided pipes remain literal data, while existing \| outside quotes still parses. Invalid quotes, escapes or trailing text receive generic, non-secret errors; Security errors identify exact source positions.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 41.1.1 mirrors AIC Editor Core 5.1.0. Existing authored values are not automatically rewritten. Masking is visual, not encryption; this release adds no authentication or note synchronization. Publication requires separate verification.

31.5.6 — 2026-09-13

Release sequence 31 · 5 feature outcomes · 6 fixed-bug outcomes. Release source target; publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification. The shared editor core moves to 5.0.0 because the Security fence grammar changes to one format.

Features
  1. One unversioned aic fence replaces the versioned Security fence variants for new content. Security sections use the single grammar with optional labels; authored legacy blocks require review when moving to the new format rather than an assumed automatic migration.

  2. Compact payment-card rows show only the last four number digits, expiry and masked CVV while preserving independent copying and source Edit.

  3. Security fields can be dragged across sections as well as reordered within a section; moves retain exact authored source outside the changed fields.

  4. Properties presents managed metadata, the related-note tree and custom fields in the compact shared Security surface, while managed values and navigation stay read-only.

  5. Labelled Add controls expose capacity and explain why an action is disabled at a limit instead of leaving an unexplained inactive control.

Fixes
  1. Escape handling is consistent across source, preview and Mermaid fence boundaries.

  2. Target feedback is transient and guarded against stale document or widget state.

  3. Field labels and values copy independently, without substituting one for the other.

  4. Filtering does not expose a masked card number (PAN).

  5. Label and drag controls remain legible and usable across narrow layouts and dark/light themes.

  6. Preview filtering and rendering avoid repeated work for unchanged content.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 40.6.6 mirrors AIC Editor Core 5.0.0. This release changes the Security fence grammar; it does not add Standard Notes authentication or note synchronization. Masking is visual, not Markdown encryption; raw source, exports and copied values can contain plaintext.

30.3.3 — 2026-09-13

Release sequence 30 · 3 feature outcomes · 3 fixed-bug outcomes. Release source target; publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Features
  1. aic-security v3 adds standalone --- section boundaries and optional ## section headings. New templates use v3; existing unversioned/v2 blocks retain their grammar and are not migrated.

  2. Authenticator JSON conversion preserves ordered records and exact string values in grouped v3 blocks, spilling at canonical capacity and splitting oversized accounts only at field boundaries. Invalid input still rejects atomically without partial conversion.

  3. Security previews show section, field and text capacity. Add controls that would exceed a limit are disabled, while New block remains available; conversion guidance suggests separate blocks by purpose, such as services, banks, web and social networks.

Fixes
  1. Security and Properties errors provide safe, precise source line/column diagnostics and Edit navigation without exposing credentials or raw parser messages.

  2. New block closes an EOF-terminated previous fence before inserting an independent Security block.

  3. Whole-card reordering preserves exact authored source and supports versioned v2/v3 fences without rewriting fields or unrelated Markdown.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 39.3.3 mirrors AIC Editor Core 4.3.0. No authentication or note-synchronization change. Masking is visual, not Markdown encryption; raw source, exports and copied values can contain plaintext.

29.4.3 — 2026-09-13

Release sequence 29 · 4 feature outcomes · 3 fixed-bug outcomes. Release source target; publication and hosted-manifest deployment require separate verification.

Features
  1. Compact, searchable Security and Properties groups provide group menus, one + disclosure and independent # Security card titles. Search matches names and visible values, never hidden values, recovery codes or generated one-time codes.

  2. Safe drag/drop and Alt+Up/Down handles reorder Security fields, sections and standalone cards, and supported sibling Properties fields/groups. Filtered lists, managed metadata, sequence items and unsupported layouts cannot be reordered; host-managed saves remain undoable.

  3. A temporary whole-editor Show Markdown source / Show preview toggle exposes the current note's raw Markdown in place without entering a native editor, persisting mode, changing source, saving or resetting Undo.

  4. Opt-in versioned pipe fields use aic-security v2 and the first-body-line Properties YAML comment # aic-fields: v2. * masks a value, # identifies a TOTP seed, and _ identifies a card with separately copyable PAN/date/CVV. The third slot is hidden; Paste targets only empty parts and populated parts require source Edit. New Security templates and newly converted Authenticator records use v2. Existing unversioned blocks/headers retain literal pipes and legacy #/_ labels; activating an existing header requires an explicit marker and review/escaping, not automatic migration. Managed file/created/updated stay read-only.

Fixes
  1. Retire stale code-preview callbacks after source or note changes so detached controls cannot mutate a replacement document.

  2. Preserve Mermaid visual drafts and focus across the temporary source toggle; reject Apply when the underlying source has changed.

  3. Improve coarse mobile contrast, menu placement and multi-part field layout so controls remain readable without overflow.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 38.4.3 mirrors AIC Editor Core 4.2.0. No authentication or note-synchronization change. Masking is visual, not Markdown encryption; raw source, exports and copied values can contain plaintext.

28.1.4 — 2026-09-13

Release sequence 28 · 1 feature outcome · 4 fixed-bug outcomes.

Feature
  1. Properties frontmatter now uses the shared Security-card renderer: copy-only managed metadata, root and nested custom YAML fields, explicit * masking, empty-field actions and source-only editing of filled values. The paired VS Code host places its read-only related-note tree after metadata; no relationship is written into YAML.

Fixes
  1. Keep nested, quoted and multiline YAML values and their ownership intact during targeted field actions; preserve authored comments, ordering and unrelated Markdown rather than rewriting the whole header.

  2. Preserve exact numeric scalars and the original created value type while managed note metadata is stamped. Display formatting never substitutes for the authored value copied from the property.

  3. Preserve the unchanged Security block DOM and live actions during Properties cursor/selection changes; detached widget callbacks remain retired.

  4. Redact starred Properties from unfinished or truncated plain-text note excerpts, including nested secrets, without claiming to encrypt raw Markdown or exports.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 37.1.4 mirrors AIC Editor Core 4.1.0. No new runtime dependency, note synchronization or authentication change. The 27.4.4 security recovery, title and save-boundary features remain available; they are not new outcomes in this release. Publication and host deployment require separate verification.

27.4.4 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 27 · 4 feature outcomes · 4 fixed-bug outcomes.

Features
  1. Hidden recovery-code batches: paste one code per line, copy each code independently, and retain reversible Used flags without deleting values. Whole-block Copy preserves the complete batch and flags.

  2. Delete genuinely empty security fields in preview; populated and whitespace-only fields cannot be removed by this action.

  3. Optional security titles occupy the existing card header instead of a duplicate row; a bare ## section marker keeps the default Security title.

  4. Shared Save/Ctrl+S/leave-editor boundaries and immediate security preview saves, owned by the host managers. No per-keystroke autosave; queued requests stay bound to their original note, with acknowledged status and failed-save retry.

Fixes
  1. Restore working Copy/Paste after conversion, scrolling and CodeMirror viewport remounts. Each live DOM has its own lifetime; detached controls, clipboard completions and TOTP timers stay retired.

  2. Remove Paste from filled fields instead of leaving a misleading disabled icon; failed/empty clipboard reads remain non-destructive.

  3. Improve light/dark text, controls, cards and status contrast using paired editor-theme colours. Mermaid theme detection follows editor-specific theme overrides too.

  4. Remove the retired File Context sphere from shared distribution and the paired extension, including its UI, commands, setting and background analysis. Markdown diagrams and parent-note relationships are unaffected.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 36.4.4 mirrors AIC Editor Core 4.0.0. The core major removes the experimental sphere exports. No new runtime dependency, AIC note synchronization or authentication change. Masking is not encryption; raw Markdown and copied blocks remain plaintext. Host save acknowledgement does not certify cloud synchronization or survival of a forced app termination before acknowledgement.

26.0.1 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 26 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome.

Fix
  1. Persist Authenticator conversion from the explicit Convert and save action, including on mobile. Previously it changed only the draft and reopening could show the original JSON. The normal host save manager now sends converted Markdown immediately, shows success only after acknowledgement, and keeps failed drafts available for retry. A compact toolbar Save action remains available for dirty drafts restored after switching notes. Input/blur autosave remains disabled; raw values, masking and atomic conversion are unchanged.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 35.0.1 mirrors AIC Editor Core 3.7.1. The Standard Notes adapter supplies acknowledged persistence; VS Code retains explicit Ctrl/Cmd+S saving. No authentication, synchronization or sphere changes.

25.1.0 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 25 · 1 feature outcome · 0 fixed-bug outcomes.

Feature
  1. Add a shared, explicit Authenticator JSON converter: one record becomes one security block, with exact-value preservation, hidden TOTP/password fields, bounded all-or-nothing validation and one-step Undo. The contextual action works on the current array or selection without clipboard access, account scanning or automatic saving. Duplicate keys, unrepresentable fields and unsafe nested Markdown contexts reject conversion without partial edits.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 34.1.0 shares AIC Editor Core 3.7.0 with the same converter and contextual controls. Authentication, synchronization, clipboard actions and the file-context sphere are unchanged. Markdown remains plaintext outside host encryption.

24.0.1 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 24 · 0 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome.

Fix
  1. Paste is now strictly empty-field-only for every security field. Filled fields keep a disabled Paste icon and can only be copied or changed through full-block Markdown Edit; there is no Replace action. Paste reads the latest clipboard value directly without an AIC picker, intermediate input or visible reading panel. Only clipboard denial/unavailability/timeout offers inline masked paste-only capture. Empty input, stale completion or a field filled in the meantime cannot overwrite a value. The browser may still require its own clipboard permission; no history storage or platform-specific helper is introduced.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 33.0.1 shares AIC Editor Core 3.6.1. Password generation, field Copy and explicit Ctrl/Cmd+S saving are unchanged. Raw Markdown and clipboard values remain plaintext.

23.2.1 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 23 · 2 feature outcomes · 1 fixed-bug outcome.

Features
  1. Security fields: tap/click a label or value to copy only its value with local success feedback. The field icon pastes from the clipboard without revealing hidden values. Filled-field replacement requires confirmation; empty clipboard data cannot erase a field. Browser denial or a three-second timeout offers paste-only capture. Late results are rejected after cancellation, document changes, source Edit or disposal. All changes remain drafts until Ctrl/Cmd+S; whole-block Copy remains available.

  2. Empty hidden password fields offer a configurable WebCrypto-only generator: default 24 characters, uppercase/lowercase/digits/symbols; length 8–128. Every enabled class is included with unbiased sampling and no weak fallback. It never overwrites a filled field or generates TOTP/API keys. Clear the value through Markdown Edit before generating again.

Fix
  1. Security controls use explicit theme foreground/background colors and 44px coarse-pointer targets. Field label/value activation and keyboard navigation are distinct: Tab navigates, Enter/Space activates, and secrets never appear in feedback.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 32.2.1 consumes the same explicit AIC Editor Core 3.6.0 inventory. No new dependencies, account migration, note synchronization or native Authenticator conversion. Markdown masking is not encryption; source, files, exports and clipboard remain plaintext. Physical mobile client clipboard permissions still depend on the embedding app.

22.1.8 — 2026-09-12

Release sequence 22 · 1 feature outcome · 8 fixed-bug outcomes.

Compatibility: AIC Notes 31.3.8 consumes the same explicit AIC Editor Core 3.5.0 inventory. The sphere renderer is shared, but workspace graph collection is VS Code-only. No note synchronization transport, QR import UI or encrypted Markdown storage is introduced. See FUNCTIONAL_INDEX.md for feature owners, contracts and verification limits.

21.3.5 — 2026-09-11

Release sequence 21 · 3 feature outcomes · 5 fixed-bug outcomes.

Compatibility: Standard Notes custom editor-editor component with interchangeable Markdown storage and the supported Code icon. AIC Notes 28.4.5 consumes the same byte-identical AIC Editor Core 3.4.0. The stable plugin identifier is unchanged.

Limitations: visual editing remains experimental and supports a bounded flow/class/sequence grammar; unsupported Mermaid stays editable as original source. Multiselect, subgraph authoring, visual timeline editing and cross-scale drill-down are not implemented. No universal agent adapter, standalone memory writer or cross-application synchronization transport is enabled. Verification uses automated suites, production builds and synthetic Windows browser checks; authenticated Standard Notes clients and live Linux sessions have not been smoke-tested for this release.
